Getting to Know the Beauty Chick: Shoes I'm Loving for Spring/Summer 2009

For this installment of "Getting to Know the Beauty Chick," I'm going to introduce you to some of the shoes/sandals I am seriously digging for these warm spring and summer months. Being only 5'4" (and some change lol), I love wearing heels to give me some added height. It is great to have some shoe options in practical shades like black, brown, and tan, but punching things up with some color is always fun and can brighten up any look. I always look for wedge heels and platforms to help lessen the painful effects higher heels can have on the feet (but, hey, sometimes beauty is pain, right?) I love going to places like DSW and Marshall's to find great deals on cute shoes. Department stores and online sites like,, and are also great resources (they even carry great accessories)!

Here are a few of the shoes and sandals that have become my favorites (with a good pedicure, of course!):

AK Anne Klein Foxie Pump in Pink/Orange

(Approx. $60 on sale at Macy's last year)

For a better look at the color:

Gladiator-style sandals are very "in" now. Love these for their sturdy heel and nice-size platform!

Nine West Balboa Gladiator Sandal in Black

($89 at Nine West and

Everyone needs a great neutral wedge:

Bandolino Live Free Sandal in Natural

($49.95 at DSW Shoe Warehouse)

And for a pair that is not only cute, but very comfy:

Aerosoles Peek a Bow Wedge in Coffee

(Purchased at Marshall's last year)

I hope you enjoyed this little showing of some of my favorite shoes. I will definitely be rocking them all this season!

What do you think of my picks? What are some of your favorites for the summer? Comment and let me know!

  1. haha! i love em! what a cute idea! the top ones are my favs! I am 5-9 and still rocking the heels all year long!

  2. Totes love AK's peep toes. The color reminds me of candy and I'm a sucker for patent.

Loving glads at the mo. Hehehe, I go two pairs at Nine West. They're surprisingly comfortable and sturdy. Rock them. I think glads are going to be a classic and a must have in any wardrobe.

Minmize the pain factor use Dr Scholl's insoles/insteps they are heaven on 4+ inch heels ;D

  3. The Makeup Snob - I am a firm believer that no matter how tall you are, you should never be afraid to rock those heels! Heels can really make a girl feel her sexiest :-) I want to see some of your shoes now lol

IMM - Those AK pumps are amazingly comfortable! I was shocked, considering they don't have such a small heel! Patent always catches my eye, too! Which Gladiators did you pick up at NW? They had a bunch of really cute ones :-) Thanks for the Dr. Scholl's tip. I've tried some of their insoles and they really do help!

  4. I picked up Valenka from the Boutique 9 collection and the shoe boot gladiator heel. I'm looking to get the flat roman ones froom the B9 collection too which is similar to Valenka.

Patent so rocks! It really dresses up an outfit.

  5. IMM - Cute! Great choices! We might need to go makeup and shoe shopping together one day lol
