R.I.P. Alexander McQueen (1969-2010): The Fashion Community Has Truly Lost An Icon

Source

Today, as the first day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week F/W 2010 began, news broke of the untimely death of fashion legend, Alexander McQueen (born Lee Alexander McQueen). The 40-year old designer was found dead in his home in London, England. McQueen was known for his innovation and creativity and his love of pushing boundaries in the pieces he showed on the runway (e.g. amazing lobster claw shoes).

The cause of McQueen's death has not yet been determined. The impact of his passing could be felt throughout the tents and across the community as a whole. The moment of silence commemorated at the start of the Ports 1961 runway show was an emotional moment for all.

R.I.P., you will be missed.
