Hair By Marco Santini For Jeremy Laing F/W 2010 At Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week

Marco Santini of ION Studio created the hair styles for the Jeremy Laing F/W 2010 presentation. Santini was inspired by a sketch of a "whimsical fairy" composed of soft, blurred lines. To translate the image he saw into reality, he used a selection of Davines products including the Davines DEDE Conditioner as well as Davines for Wizards No. 4 Glossy Modeling Putty.

To achieve the look, Santini first wet the model's hair with DEDE Conditioner, a lightweight formula designed to strengthen the hair. Hair was then dried and sectioned off into two parts. Using elastic string and a sewing needle, the hair was weaved together into an "organic" pony tail. The look was finished off with the application of the Wizards No. 4 Glossy Modeling Putty a paste-like product that helped to develop naturally-textured tresses. Each model's style was slightly different from the next.

This One's For The Curls: LUSH Curly Wurly Shampoo

This review goes out to all of you who are looking for a shampoo that will help hydrate and cleanse your "curly wurly" locks. I had been interested in trying a LUSH shampoo, and on a recent trip to one of their stores (I'm quickly becoming an addict, I tell you!), one of the sales associates recommended that I check out Curly Wurly, the brand's shampoo designed to hydrate dry, unruly curls, leaving them shiny and frizz-free.

The formula contains a mixture of natural, healthy, and nourishing ingredients, such as vanilla, coconut (it actually contains little bits of coconut!), papaya, free-range eggs, and an assortment of natural butters. It is also preservative-free. The scent is absolutely amazing, and I would go so far as to say it smells good enough to eat! The shampoo comes housed in a 7.8 oz. tub that retails for $19.50. Though the price may seem to be a bit steep, it is important to keep in mind that one container should last quite a while. Really only a small amount (may vary a little depending on how thick or long your hair is) need be applied at each wash.

I have really been enjoying the product. I am finding that after washing with the Curly Wurly shampoo my tresses feel more moisturized, softer, and more manageable in general. The amount of frizz is diminished and my hair feels very clean. The one thing I do have to say about the shampoo is that its consistency is quite different from those that I had previously used and to which I had become accustomed. It is rather thick and paste-like, and it does not lather in the hair the way traditional shampoos do. I find that it applies best when worked between the fingers first and then spread throughout the hair. I concentrate a lot on the ends of my hair as well, the areas that tend to experience the most dryness. As I mentioned previously, the formula does contain actual bits of coconut in it, which might bother some. I have heard that some people find that removing/washing out the coconut can be difficult, but I myself have not experienced that at all. That again, could also depend on the thickness of the hair, though. My hair, I would say, however, is moderately thick.

If you're dealing with unruly curls, I definitely recommend giving Curly Wurly a go. If you are curious about test driving it before you commit to a tub (it only comes in one size), don't hesitate to ask your LUSH associate if it would be possible to try a sample. I can't guarantee that you will be able to keep your noses out of the product, though. The smell is so deliciously intoxicating!

You can find Curly Wurly at LUSH boutiques worldwide as well as online at www.lush.com.

NB: I purchased this product myself.

The Proof Is In The Pudding - Errr, Hair!: No Frizz Hair Care From Living Proof

I'm always looking for products to help me in my never-ending quest to tame the beast: the frizz ball on top of my curly-haired head. Thus far, I haven't exactly found anything that really minimizes the fuzz successfully. Recently, however, I have been using a new product line, No Frizz from Living Proof. This company has created a range of styling products for both straight and wavy/curly hairstyles, as well as a recently launched shampoo and conditioner for all hair types. In my testing, along with the shampoo and conditioner, I have been using the Wave Defining, Curl Shaping No Frizz Style Treatment.

Created by MIT scientists, this line was brought to fruition to try to attack the "frizz issue" - plaguing many when hair is subjected to humidity - from a "physics standpoint." While many other products are silicone-based, Living Proof's hair care utilizes more effective molecules and technologies. If it is beautiful, shiny, frizz-free hair that you desire, then look no further!

This is my hair on No Frizz from Living Proof (keep in mind this was after getting a bit wind-swept on my walk to the train):

The entire Living Proof product line can be found at Sephora stores, at http://www.sephora.com/, and online at the Living Proof website. The 8 oz. shampoo and conditioner retail for $24 each (they also have 2 oz. bottles available for $10 on the Living Proof site), and the Wave Defining treatment is $24 for 4 oz. ($10 for 2 oz.).

Have you tried any products from this brand or any others that have worked well to tame unruly locks?
